Rhino Jamaica: Championing water security across the Caribbean, one tank at a time

Water shortages and unreliable supply aren’t strange to Caribbean nationals, but Rhino Jamaica Limited is working to change that reality.

Formerly Rototech International Ltd, the rebranded Rhino Jamaica Limited has grown from a modest operation into a prominent player in the water management sector, making a significant impact across Jamaica and other Caribbean islands. The company was founded in 1997.

Initially, Rhino Jamaica focused on manufacturing RHINO Water Tanks with just five employees. Today, the company has expanded its workforce to over 112 and broadened its product range to include a variety of water and waste management solutions. Its flagship product, the Rhino Water Tank, has earned a reputation for its durability and reliability, becoming a necessity in both residential and commercial settings throughout the region.

“Our Rhino water tanks remain highly sought after for their durability and robustness,” the company which is headed Roger Garcia said in highlighting the importance of its role in addressing regional water issues.

Water scarcity has become a persistent issue in Jamaica and across the Caribbean, with droughts and erratic rainfall patterns affecting water availability. Rhino Jamaica’s focus on water tanks and comprehensive rainwater harvesting systems seeks to directly address these challenges, both in the residential and commercial market.

Still, Rhino’s product offerings are not static. The company has shown a capacity to adapt and expand based on market demand.

For instance, Rhino recently introduced the 500-gallon Rhino Septic Tank, expanding its portfolio of waste management solutions. This addition follows the success of their existing range, including the popular 300- and 750-gallon septic tanks, and responds to increasing demand from both residential and commercial customers.

“Less than 2 years ago we introduced the 750-gallon Rhino Septic tank and based on requests and demand we have recently introduced the 500 gallon Rhino septic tank this year, alongside the existing 300 and 500 gallon FatBoy septic tank options,” the company said.

“Our growth trajectory has been exponential, with the addition of rainwater harvesting systems and septic tanks, including our well-known Fat Boy brand,” it continued.

The company says adaptability is a key component of its business strategy.

In addition to its core focus on water tanks and rainwater harvesting systems, Rhino Jamaica is also actively involved in the water heater business and carries brands such as Stiebel Eltron tankless water heaters and Aqua Power tankless water heaters.

Rhino Jamaica also distributes a broad portfolio of related products, including Sturdy Ropes and Twines, Rotocool Insulated Coolers, Island Planters, and customizable Rhino and Modular Septic Tanks. These diversified offerings highlight the company’s capacity to address a broad range of customer requirements, thereby solidifying its market position.

Back a team of “factory-trained and certified technicians”, Rhino Jamaica says it goes beyond sales by also providing installation and maintenance services for many of its products.

“Our commitment goes beyond sales, we provide installation and maintenance services for many of the products that we offer,” the company said.

But beyond its commercial operations, Rhino Jamaica is engaged in various community initiatives aimed at promoting water conservation and sustainability. The company says it works to educate the public on the benefits of rainwater harvesting and efficient water use, aligning its business objectives with broader environmental goals. Rhino’s commitment to water conservation is underscored by its belief that “each and every Jamaican should have access to an affordable, clean, and reliable source of water.”

Future Prospects

As water issues continue to be a pressing concern for the Caribbean, Rhino Jamaica says it is positioning itself for further growth.

The company plans to scale up its manufacturing capacity and expand its distribution network to better serve a wider array of markets in the region. Rhino’s proactive approach to innovation and community support underscores its ambition to be a leader in the Caribbean water solutions market.

“We are committed to supporting our communities during times of water scarcity and ensuring that every Jamaican has access to an affordable, clean, and reliable source of water,” the water storage company said. Amid the plans for expansion, Rhino Jamaica says it remains focused on addressing critical needs, using its expertise and resources to help mitigate the region’s water challenges.

Rhino Jamaica is also actively involved in the tankless water heater business and distributes the two brands: Stiebel Eltron and Aqua Power.

Rhino Jamaica started manufacturing RHINO Water Tanks with just five employee but has since expanded its workforce to over 100 employees.

Rhino Jamaica recently introduced the 500 gallon septic tank this year, alongside the existing 300 and 500 gallon FatBoy septic tanks.

Rhino Jamaica’s King Kong insulated cooler. The product is popular among fisherfolks and juice vendors and is also used for other residential and commercial use.

Rhino Jamaica also distributes a broad portfolio of related products, including water pumps.
