Minor fire in Jubilee operating theatre

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A minor fire broke out in the operating theatre at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston early Friday morning.

The fire reportedly started around 3:15 am but was quickly extinguished, with additional cooling down activities conducted by the Jamaica Fire Brigade.

Following the incident, two staff members were treated for smoke inhalation at the Accident and Emergency Department of the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).

No mothers, babies, or other patients were injured during the incident.

In the meantime, emergency and elective surgical services have been temporarily relocated to KPH.
