Safe Passage takes Mayberry SuperStars tournament

PORT ANTONIO, Portland — Safe Passage sailed away with the Mayberry SuperStars of Port Antonio International Marlin Tournament Trophy at the Errol Flynn Marina on Saturday night after copping 2,700 points.

Safe Passage finished ahead of Still Keepin It Jiggy (1,350 points) and 2 Cantankerous (900).

A total of 11 blue marlins were released over the three days as Safe Passage accounted for six,
Still Keepin It Jiggy (three) and 2 Cantankerous (two). Chris Berry of Safe Passage was the top male angler and Paulette Tai Chang of Still Keepin It Jiggy the top female angler.

Nine boats took part in the tournament along with 38 anglers. Four of the anglers were women.

“We had a good tournament although the weather affected us. Eventually nine boats participated and we are happy, and congratulations to our winners Safe Passage,” Tournament Director Robert “Bobby” Stewart said. “Thanks to our sponsors and the anglers who came in early with their boats as we were able to fish. On a per boat basis we have done well as we exceeded last year.”
