The biggest reggae and dancehall artistes will perform live at the Garvey One Destiny Concert on Sunday, October 20, at the National Arena.

The event, which is the inaugural fund-raiser for the Marcus Garvey in Schools Foundation (MGISF), promises to be a thrilling evening of music celebrating the legacy of Marcus Mosiah Garvey.

The concert’s all-star line-up features Beenie Man, Sizzla, Queen Ifrica, Jahshii, Lutan Fyah, Nesbeth, and a stellar constellation of other performers ready to support the cause.

All proceeds from the Garvey One Destiny Concert will advance the foundation’s efforts to expand its programmes promoting self-reliance, cultural awareness, and civic pride in basic, primary and secondary schools islandwide.

“We are committed to fostering self-awareness, promoting financial literacy, and inspiring a new generation of leaders,” affirmed MGISF Chairman Major (Ret) Effiom Whyte. “We have put together a line-up to entertain Jamaicans of all ages and promote the ideals and values espoused by Marcus Garvey.”

The event, which is being hosted under the patronage of Governor General Sir Patrick and Lady Allen, is supported primarily by the Jamaica National Group.

The Marcus Garvey in Schools Foundation is a charitable organisation dedicated to empowering Jamaicans through the teachings of Jamaica’s first national hero by developing educational resources and facilitating teacher training in schools across the island.

The foundation’s pilot project, officially launched in 2022, produces educational curricula and workbooks developed in consultation with the Ministry of Education and Youth and the Early Childhood Commission. The foundation also runs a teacher training programme that helps educators integrate MGISF’s educational tools into their lesson plans. Over 3,500 children and teachers in early childhood and primary schools islandwide have been impacted by MGISF’s pilot project to date.
