Crown Chaser, Run Julie Run battle for supremacy in Errol ‘Big Sub’ Subratie Memorial Trophy

Crown Chaser, Run Julie Run battle for supremacy in Errol ‘Big Sub’ Subratie Memorial Trophy

The stage is set for an electrifying showdown at Caymanas Park tomorrow as 15 talented thoroughbreds vie for the coveted Errol ‘Big Sub’ Subratie Memorial Trophy, an Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over one mile (1,600m).

Among the star-studded entrants are Crown Chaser, the reigning Jamaica Derby champion; Run Julie Run, the impressive Jamaica 1000 Guineas winner;
Unbelievable Force, the gifted American-bred seeking her third-consecutive victory; and Sheer Delight, the highly touted American-bred debutant and Mouttet Mile hopeful.

The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide brings you an in-depth analysis of each contender, examining their strengths, weaknesses, and chances of claiming the lion’s share of the $1.25-million purse.

Will Crown Chaser continue his dominance? Can Run Julie Run turn the tables on her Derby rival? Will Unbelievable Force prove unstoppable? Or will Sheer Delight make a stunning debut?

1. MR SENATOR: (4 rn c by Natural Selection—Khadiliah)—Has reached this level but has no chance of winning. Mr Senator lacks recent success and faces stiff competition.

2. CROWN CHASER: (3 b c by Bern Identity—Salty Talk)— Returns after landing the Jamaica Derby over 12 furlongs (2,400m) on August 6.
Crown Chaser’s late burst of energy on the inside rails in the deep stretch was enough to edge out Run Julie Run and stablemate Captain Sparrow by a mere half-length.
Crown Chaser won in a time of 2:38.0 (23.3 x 48.4 x 1:17.1 x 1:42.2). Crown Chaser has worked really nice coming into this race and should be one of the top contenders for this trophy race.

3. SONNY T AND CHIPPY: (5 b h by Savoy Stomp—Triniket Box) — Has been struggling in recent times, and that should continue here.

4. UNBELIEVABLE FORCE (USA): (3 dk b/br f by McCraken—Debit or Credit)— Talented foreigner who has won three races from five career starts on local soil. Unbelievable Force hunts her third-consecutive win here, and based on her performances to date, she is expected to do well.

5. BERN NOTICE: (6 ch h by Bern Identity – Blufield) – Will be left behind.

6. MONEY MISER: (4 ch c by Soul Warrior—She’s Traditional)— Finished a neck second to Sistren Treasure over 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m) on September 29.
Money Miser has trained well for this race and is expected to run a decent race.

7. SPIRIT OF LIGHT (ARG): (7 b h by Sebi Halo—Bil Boa) — Showed nothing on his debut when finishing in last position of 10 runners on September 8 over 9 furlongs and 25 yards (1,820 m). Spirit of Light should gain from that run and is expected to do much better.

8. RUN JULIE RUN: (3 gr f by Successful Native—Runaway Julie) — After her close second-place finish in the Jamaica Derby, Run Julie Run made a triumphant return to the races on October 5 in a non-winners of four contest over one mile.
Run Julie Run delivered an impressive performance to defeat Impressive Force and
Comehometome by 4 ½ lengths. The race fractions were 23.0 x 46.2 x 1:12.4 x 1:25.2, and the final time was 1:38.1. Run Julie Run can turn the tables on
Crown Chaser here and beat the rest of the field as well.

9. EAZY PEAZY: (4 b c by Casual Trick—Baby P) — Only in this race to make up numbers.

10. BABYLIKE: (5 dk b m by Savoy Stomp – Ladylike) — cannot be recommended for a winning run.

11. MONEY MONSTER: (7 b g by Casual Trick—She’s Traditional) — Has raced 10 times this season without a win. Money Monster will not get that first win here.

12. I REALISE: (4 b g by Northern Giant—Regina Royale)— Should not trouble the main principals here.

13. RAINSVILLE: (5 gr g by Casual Trick—Fiftyshades of Ray)— Can be safely bypassed here.

14. POSITIVE ID: (6 b h by Bern Identity – Bubble Gal Bubble) — Cannot be considered for a winning run.

15. SHEER DELIGHT (USA): (3 dk b c by Girvin – Pantyhose) – Highly rated foreigner who was down especially of the Mouttet Mile on December 7. Sheer Delight has raced seven times and won two races. His wins came at Tampa Bay Downs on January 19 of this year and February 21, both at distances of one mile and 40 yards.
Sheer Delight has looked well at exercise and could put in a strong performance here.

Unbelievable Force (Raddesh Roman) pulls away from rivals for an easy victory at the races on Saturday, September 14, 2024.Naphtali Junior
