St James wanted man held, woman arrested

ST JAMES, Jamaica — St James police have arrested one of the parish’s most wanted men who recently featured in the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Wanted Wednesday campaign.

He is Liko Maxwell, otherwise called ‘Niko’ of Flamstead Garden in the parish.

Maxwell was arrested during an operation in Garland district, Montego Bay in the parish on Friday morning.

Reports are that about 3:30 am, lawmen carried out an operation at a premises in Garland where a bedroom was searched and Maxwell arrested. A Girsan Rigard pistol fitted with a magazine containing seventeen 9mm rounds of ammunition was also seized during the operation and a woman who was at the premises was also taken into custody.

Commenting on the arrest, the commanding officer of the St James Division, Superintendent Eron Samuels asked residents to cooperate with the police by sharing whatever information they have so that law and order can be maintained.

“We are asking the citizens of St James to just tell us what they know, and pass on the information. We want to ensure that you’re able to have a crime free or low crime Christmas,” he said.
