Parents padlock May Pen Infant School gate, demand resignation of chairman
CLARENDON, Jamaica— Disgruntled parents of students who attend May Pen Infant School in Clarendon are demanding the resignation of Board Chairman Stanley Ramsingh over growing concerns that leadership is lacking at the institution.
The parents padlocked the school gate Tuesday morning, preventing students and teachers from gaining access.

Parents lament that the school has been operating without a principal for a few months and allege that no meals are being provided for their children, despite paying their lunch money. They also allege that the school is not well kept and the janitorial staff are not being paid.
Protesters gathered at the school, some holding placards bearing the demands “Canteen must open. We need vice principal. Chairman must go now”, while others chanted “The chairman needs to go!”
