Pocket Rocket Foundation Six-A-Side football semi-finals set for Saturday

THE semi-final matches for the Pocket Rocket Foundation Six-A-Side ‘Peace Through Sports’ Football Competition are set for Saturday, November 30 and will see the top four contenders face off for the ultimate spot in the finals to vie for the championship title.

After an exciting quarter-final last weekend the semi-final games will see Legacy face Medley Mixers while Legend will go head-to-head with Friends for Real. The games kick off at 3:00 pm at the Red Stripe Sports Complex located at 214 Spanish Town Road, Kingston.

Legacy, the 2019 champions, will aim to bring their experience and championship pedigree to the semi-finals, while Medley Mixers, Legend, and Friends for Real will all be making their first semi-final appearance.

“It has been incredible to watch the passion, commitment, and sportsmanship displayed by all the teams so far. With just four teams left the competition is heating up. Every team has been playing hard, and the semi-finals are going to be something special. This is what sport is about — rivalries, determination, and moments you will remember. Fans are definitely in for a treat, and we are excited to see who steps up and earns a spot in the final,” said Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, founder and chairwoman of Pocket Rocket Foundation.

Fraser-Pryce continued, “It is truly inspiring to see how the event has grown and the overwhelming support from the community. Fans have turned out in their numbers throughout the tournament, and I have no doubt they will bring the same energy and excitement to the semi-finals. This competition is all about bringing people together through sport, and it continues to make me proud to see that mission come to life in such a big way.”

The six-a-side competition is sponsored by Nike, AFIMI, Grace Foods, GraceKennedy’s 876 Water, and Lucozade, FESGas, Rymax Lubricants, Dollette & Ken, and Sanmerna Paper Products.

The grand finale of the competition is scheduled for Saturday, December 7 at 3:00 pm at the Red Stripe Sports Complex.
