A lover of Christmas, Hodari Q says it is his favourite time of the year.

The singer recently wrote and recorded Under My Christmas Tree, his first Yuletide song.

Hodari Q, who also created the music for the self-produced single, said a song celebrating the season has been in the works for some time.

“I have always wanted to do a Christmas song; Christmas is my favourite time of the year. I just love the atmosphere, the Christmas lights everywhere, people are usually more friendly at that time of the year, the visiting friends, linking up with family, the joy and the laughter that is usually present during the season. It also reminds me of when I was a child enjoying Christmas with my family,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Most Jamaican artistes go for a reggae sound whether their Christmas song is an original or cover. Hodari Q preferred a different feel for Under My Christmas Tree.

“For this song, I went with a pop style for a more universal appeal. I initially was working on a Christmas album, but time didn’t allow me to finish it, so I had to focus on just this one song, but the album has reggae on it. More than likely next year I will be able to put the album out,” he disclosed.

Under My Christmas Tree is Hodari Q’s second released song for 2024. His previous single was Undo, released on the Dragon Glass rhythm, which also has songs by Voicemail, TOK and Bunji Garlin.
