Bootylicious, Jordon Reign’s vie for top spot in Ahwhofah Sprint

SPRINT enthusiasts are in for a treat as the $1.25-million Ahwhofah Sprint, featuring a talented field of 14 runners, takes centre stage.

Headlining the six-furlong (1,200m) showdown are the formidable duo of
Bootylicious and Jordon Reign’s who promise to put on a thrilling display of speed and agility.

Bootylicious, conditioned by Peter-John Parsard, is expected to excel over this distance which suits her running style. Bootylicious led for most of the way in the St Elizabeth Distaff over one mile on November 9 before giving way in deep stretch to winner
Power From Above and second-place Sistren Treasure. She finished third by some 6¾ lengths behind the winner and a short head behind Sistren Treasure. Now reverting to sprinting, Bootylicious is going to love this reduction in distance and could go all the way. The four-year-old bay filly is to have Reyan Lewis aboard

Bootylicious has an impressive record, having raced 13 times in her career and winning on six occasions, finishing second twice and third once, with lifetime earnings of $5,044,375. Her last win came two starts back when she made one move to win over five and a half furlongs in a time of 1:00.0. With her speed and agility Bootylicious is a force to be reckoned with in the Ahwhofah Sprint.

However if Jordon Reign’s, also trained by Parsard, is anywhere near his best he could dominate the field. The six-year-old American-bay gelding returns from a 154-day break having only raced two times this season. Jordon Reign’s made a successful seasonal debut on May 19, winning over the straight in 1:00.1. His next outing on July 13 over six furlongs was a disappointment, finishing in last position by over 20 lengths. But, he has been timely prepared for his return and only needs to be 80 per cent fit to dominate. Panamanian Dick Cardenas will ride at top weight of 57.0kgs (126 lb).

Jordon Reign’s has a strong reputation, having won several top-class races in the past. His return to competition is highly anticipated, and he is expected to make a strong impact in the Ahwhofah Sprint.

Other notable contenders include Freedom Street and Digital One, who are expected to put on prominent performances.

Freedom Street finished a good second by a length behind Money Market over five and a half furlongs (1,100m) on November 23. Based on that effort Freedom Street has an outside chance.

Digital One has been a model of consistency this season as she has never been out of the top three in her seven starts. She has won once, finished second twice, and placed third four times.

In her last race on October 6 she got home in third place by 5¾ lengths, behind
Perfect Brew and Money Market at five and a half furlongs. This capable group is going to love this galloping course and could challenge for top honors if Parsard’s pair of
Bootylicious and Jordon Reign’s should put a hoof wrong.

The Ahwhofah Sprint is positioned as the ninth and final event on the day, with a post time of 5:05 pm. The first race is scheduled for 11:45 am.
