It has been a prolific year in terms of recordings for Mission da Gr81. He released four songs in 2024, the most for that period since his first single hit the market four years ago.

My Life Is A Movie, his latest song, was released in early December. Produced by Paul Roberts, it is the follow-up to Sekkle, which came out in late October.

“It’s been a nice year, we did a lotta recordings and a lotta shows, but there’s a lot more to be done,” said the South Florida-based artiste.

Sekkle is produced by JonFX, known for his success with the rapper XXXtentacion, Sizzla and Gyptian. He also produced Hostage, another of Mission da Gr81’s releases this year.

Mission da Gr81 plans to maintain a similar recording regimen in the coming year.

“Next year is going to be even more progressive,” he stated.

Born in St Mary, Mission da Gr81 has lived in the United States for over 30 years. He cut his teeth on the competitive New York City dancehall scene in the 1990s, but also listened to the edgy hip hop artistes who emerged in the Big Apple during that period.

Relocating to South Florida, Mission da Gr81 officially launched his recording career in 2022. Several of his songs have been produced by fellow Jamaican JonFX.
