Five arrested in 1,800-pound ganja bust

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Five men were arrested following a drug bust at South Bowden Wharf in Port Morant, St Thomas, on Thursday.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) reported that acting on intelligence, a team of officers assigned to the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division conducted an operation at 11:30 pm to intercept a fishing vessel.

Upon arrival, the police conducted a search of the vessel and reportedly discovered bags containing 1,800 pounds of compressed ganja.

The five men were subsequently taken into custody in connection with the seizure; however, their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
