ISSA names all-star teams for January 11 schoolboy football double-header

KINGSTON, Jamaica— Players from Manning Cup winners Kingston College and daCosta Cup champions Garvey Maceo High have dominated the selections on their respective post season all-star teams, according to a release from the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) on Monday.

Manning Cup and Olivier Shield winners Kingston College and Manning Cup finalists St Catherine High each had five picks on the All- Manning team,  while Garvey Maceo and semi-finalists Glenmuir High each had six picks on the All-daCosta team.

The All-daCosta Cup and All-Manning teams will face each other in the second game of a double-header on Saturday, January 11 after the game between the all-scholastic teams from each region.

According to ISSA, “The initial list was first done by the eight coaches from the quarter-finals (of each competition) plus media personnel. The final selection was done by coaches from the semi-finals.”

Goalkeeper Malique Williams, Kvist Paul, DeJuan Green, Matrim Martin and Damaine Smith are the Kingston College players in the All-Manning team, while the other goalkeeper, Omarion Brown, Romaine Walters, Nathaniel Ellis, Kadean Young and Dwight Gentles are from St Catherine High.

Four Hydel High players were included: Rasheen Green, Garrick Taylor, Ronaldo Barrett and Keyanni Jackson, while there were three from Jamaica College- Javaun Mills, Nashordo Gibbs and Dyllan John.

Goalkeeper Garfield Tomlinson, who was spectacular in penalty shoot-outs in the daCosta Cup semi-finals and final, is one of six players from Garvey Maceo in the All-daCosta team along with Tyreek McKenley, Malik Robinson, Everald Swaby and Christopher Mundle.

The six from Glenmuir High are: O’Neil Headley, Conroy Nicely, Brandon Wallace, Dunsting Cohen, Ja-son Whyte and Orane Watson, while losing finalists McGrath High had four selections- Jamari Fowler, Isaac Mason, Devone Davis and Shane Pusey.

The coaches for the teams are: Kingston College’s Vassell Reynolds, Anthony Patrick of St Catherine High and Hydel High’s Devon Anderson for the All-Manning team and Lester Hibbert of Garvey Maceo High, Jermaine Thomas of McGrath High and Andrew Peart of Glenmuir High for the All-DaCosta Cup team.

All-DaCosta team:

Goalkeepers: Garfield Tomlinson- Garvey Maceo; Maleek Martin- Ocho Rios High.

Defenders: Jamari Fowler- McGrath High; O’Neil Headley- Glenmuir High; Isaac Mason- McGrath High; Tyreek McKenley- Garvey Maceo High; Conroy Nicely- Glenmuir High; Malik Robinson- Garvey Maceo High; Brandon Wallace- Glenmuir High

Midfielders: Deandre Barnett- STETHS; Dunsting Cohen- Glenmuir High; Devone Davis- McGrath High; Justin Hayles- Clarendon College; Everald Swaby- Garvey Maceo; Ja-son Whyte- Glenmuir High.

Forwards: Kaneil Brown- Ocho Rios High; Christopher Mundle- Garvey Maceo; Omarion O-Brian- Garvey Maceo; Shane Pusey- McGrath High; Keanu Reid- Ocho Rios; Stevaughn Spence- Frome Tech; Orane Watson- Glenmuir High.

Reserves: Jayden Haynes- Ocho Rios High; Anrick Gordon- Central High; Delano Thompson- Garvey Maceo High.

All-Manning team—

Goalkeepers: Omarion Brown- St Catherine High; Malique Williams- Kingston College.

Defenders: Alexavier Gooden- STATHS; Robino Gordon- Mona High; Rasheen Green- Hydel High; Javaun Mills- Jamaica College; Kvist Paul- Kingston College; Garrick Taylor- Hydel High; Romaine Walters- St Catherine High.

Midfielders: Ronaldo Barrett- Hydel High; Nathaniel Ellis- St Catherine High; DeJuan Green- Kingston College; Keyanni Jackson- Hydel High; Matrim Martin- Kingston College; Denzel McKenzie-Mona High; Kadean Young- St Catherine High.

Forwards: Dwight Gentles- St Catherine High; Nashordo Gibbs- Jamaica College; Dyllan John- Jamaica College; Ryan-Oneil Francis- Tivoli Gardens High; Kimarly Scott- Excelsior High; Damaine Smith- Kingston College.

Reserves: Daquan Duhaney- Wolmers Boys; Jevaughn Grant- Eltham High; Alex James- Campion College
