A man has been charged in connection with the killing of the production manager at Fosrich Company Limited, Wayne Cephas.

Cephas was shot dead by two men on a motorcycle as he drove with his son along Molynes Road, near Half-Way Tree, St. Andrew, on December 19, last year.

Charged with murder is 26-year-old Damair McKenzie, from Portmore Lane in Bridgeport, St. Catherine. No court date has been given for the accused man.

Police reported that around 3:55 pm, Cephas and his son were driving in traffic along the roadway in his brown Toyota Corolla Cross motor car.

Upon approaching the intersection, two men approached the vehicle on a grey motorbike. The pillion, the police said, got off the bike, pulled a handgun from his waistband and opened gunfire at Cephas, hitting him to his upper body.

Cephas lost control of his motor car, which sped off towards Half-Way Tree and collided with two other motor vehicles after passing the intersection of Molynes Road and Lower Sandringham Avenue.

The police were called and responded promptly, rushing Cephas to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH), where doctors pronounced him dead.

The men drove the motorcycle from the scene along Molynes Road onto Lower Sandringham Avenue, where the bike crashed at the intersection of Lower Sandringham Avenue and Westminster Road. They abandoned the motorbike and escaped into the area.

Following police investigations, McKenzie was identified and taken into custody. He was charged after a question-and-answer interview with his attorney.
