Juventus, AC Milan renew rivalry in Serie A action

Eintracht Frankfurt is flying high, Dortmund is struggling to find form, and both teams will collide later today in a highly anticipated clash. Meanwhile, Juventus and AC Milan will renew their rivalry, which goes back to over 120 years, when they go head-to-head on Saturday, with Juventus seeking revenge having been beaten by AC Milan in the Italian Super Cup final last week.

Event # 1 – GER – Frankfurt vs Dortmund – 2:30 PM

The German Bundesliga returns with an expected thrilling encounter today as Frankfurt host Dortmund, aiming to continue their push for a champions League spot. Eintracht Frankfurt have been one of the surprise teams of the Bundesliga season so far, exceeding expectations to sit comfortably in third place after 17 matches, winning 10, drawing three, and suffering just four defeats. Indeed, Frankfurt’s home form has been the reason for their early season success, losing just once from their eight matches played so far. The Eagles, Frankfurt, enter this match following a 4-1 demolition they handed out to Freiburg in their previous game, a result that will give them further confidence heading into the match against Dortmund.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund’s season has been a tale of disappointment and inconsistency. The German giants enter this match in an unfamiliar ninth position in the league standing, having won seven, lost seven, with four draws, which falls well short of the club’s lofty expectations. With that said, Dortmund’s away form has been particularly concerning, with just one win, two draws, and five defeats on their travels. This poor record on the road will be a significant worry as they prepare to face a high-flying Frankfurt side who has been scoring goals for fun, especially at home. Indeed, Dortmund’s most recent result, a 4-2 away defeat to lowly Holstein Kiel in the DFB Pokal, highlights their struggles this season on the road. That shock defeat from the cup competition has heaped further pressure on the team who is already low on confidence.

Key Stats

Frankfurt – Eintracht Frankfurt has scored six goals in their last three matches.

Dortmund – Dortmund have conceded seven goals in their last two matches.

Both sides – Dortmund have dominated this fixture in recent times with four wins and one draw in their last five meetings, with the most recent clash ending in a 2-0 win for Dortmund at home.

The betting Tip. Frankfurt Win.

Event # SERIE A – Juventus vs AC Milan – 12:00 PM

In a rivalry that stems back over 120 years, Juventus and AC Milan will renew hostilities tomorrow, Saturday, January 18 at the Allianz Arena. With that said, Juventus enter this match as the only unbeaten team in Serie A after 19 matches but sits fifth in the table as they have drawn 12 and won seven games so far. At home, Juventus have won just three games and have drawn seven matches but more importantly, they have not lost a match at home so far this campaign and this sort of home form will undoubtedly play a crucial role in their upcoming game with AC Milan. In their most recent game, Juventus battled to a hard-fought 1-1 draw away to third placed side Atalanta, thus extending their unbeaten run against an in-form side.

AC Milan, on the other hand, find themselves eighth in the table, following a mixed bag of results so far this season — they have seven wins, seven draws, and four defeats from their eighteen matches played so far. With that said, AC Milan’s away form has been somewhat inconsistent, with three wins, two draws, and three defeats on the road. This inconsistency in performance away from home could be of concern as they head to the Allianz Areana to face a strong and unbeaten Juventus side. However, confidence should be high in the camp as AC Milan enter this match off the back of a morale boosting 2-1 away win against Como in their previous match.

Key Stats

• Juventus – Juventus are undefeated in 30 of their last 31 matches in all competitions but they have drawn nine of their last 14 matches.

• AC Milan – AC Milan are undefeated in 11 of their last 12 overall matches and have drawn four of their last seven matches.

• Both sides – The most recent clash between both teams came in the Italian Super Cup finals just over a week ago with AC Milan winning 2-1.

The betting Tip. Draw.
