Auraiya Hope returns with The Chronicles of Love Vol II EP
A physician for the past 10 years, Auraiya Hope also finds time to pursue music, her other passion.
On January 28, she will release the EP, The Chronicles of Love Vol II.
Its launch comes one year after The Chronicles of Love, the singer’s first album.
Like that project, Vol II, is produced by Rocky Valley Records.
The titles are not the only similarities for album and EP.
“We continue to explore the emotions we feel as we pursue the dream of finding a true life partner. We explore the thrills of finding new love, the conflicts we face as we learn to co-exist,” Hope explained.
She wrote three of the EP’s four songs — Just Call Me, Be The One and This Must Be Love. The other track is a cover of It Hurts To Be Alone, the classic 1964 ballad by The Wailers.
Hope’s version features Beverley Kelso, who sang on the original alongside Junior Braithwaite, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Livingston (later Bunny Wailer), which was done at Studio One for producer Clement Dodd. She met Kelso two years ago in Trench Town and they agreed to collaborate on a version of the timeless track.
“This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Beverly Kelso is the only Wailer who is alive. She is such a beautiful and humble soul. I loved all my interactions with her,” said Hope.
The Chronicles of Love Vol II will be launched at Footprints Cafe.
