Gio makes impact with Don’t Know

The ‘city’ of Portmore plays a key role in producing some of Jamaica’s most renowned entertainers and Gio feels he possesses the qualities necessary to carry on the city’s musical reputation.

Currently based in the US, Gio is putting a strong promotional muscle behind his track Don’t Know, which is aimed at fighting against distractions meant to slow you down.

Another ProducedByFuze hit, the track adds to the producers extensive catalogue which includes credits from major players like Sean Paul, Vybz Kartel, Chronic Law, Bayka, among others.

In the track, Gio pleads: “Lord you see and know, just cover my soul, I don’t wanna be like before, through the rain I’m knocking at your door. Do nuh mek dem draw mi out like lace, to the Father everyday I pray, Do nuh mek me walk alone, dem cyaah obeah mi wid old cologne, Father God watch mi path and make my way, Jah to you alone I pray.”

Due to its relatability, the official video has managed to amass thousands of views while the track’s catchy hook has drawn the attention of numerous international curators who have added the single to several libraries and playlists.

The visuals were captured by RB Visuals and presents as one of the directors’ extensive catalogue of uniquely edited short films.

Gio shared the inspiration behind the track: “My team and I orchestrated the music video for the song and we tried to visually convey the emotions felt when people around you try to limit your reach. The lyrics hit on a personal level because people might think they know the real Gio, but they really don’t know because I am reformed from my old personality and continuously experiencing growth. Each day I figure out a new way to evaluate the people around me, and as such I act accordingly and it keeps me on the right path; this track embodies that mindset.”

Currently on a musical high, Gio shares that he plans on further cementing his place within the industry with a collaboration with Rytikal to kick-start the new year.

“My next release will transcend boundaries the masses never thought possible because both myself and Rytikal are lyrical forces to be reckoned with and we plan on giving our supporters a track that will not only dominate in this era, but afterwards,” he said.

Additional tracks from Gio include Testify, Sorry, Chip and Lifestyle.
