Inmate charged for fellow detainee’s murder
THE St Catherine North Police have charged 41-year-old Appolos Atkinson with murder following an incident at a correctional centre in the parish on January 17.
Atkinson is charged with the murder of 32-year-old Jermaine Rogers, an inmate at the same facility.
Reports from the Spanish Town police are that about 2:55 pm, the correctional officers at the facility heard a commotion and later discovered Rogers with a stab wound. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives charged Atkinson after conducting a question-and-answer session with him in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised.
