Duncans hope to keep winning in Championships

TRELAWNY, Jamaica- Newcomers Duncans FC and former Premier League champions Reno FC will meet at the Trelawny Multi-purpose stadium today, at 3:15pm, in one of two fixtures featuring teams that won their opening games in the Jamaica Football Federation Championships.

Duncans FC are leading Zone B on goal-difference after they got their maiden campaign at this level off to a fast start beating St Bess United 4-0 last week while Reno FC clipped Petersfield FC 2-1 in a Westmoreland derby.

In Zone A, Meadforest FC and Baptist Alliance SC who are in a four-way tie for the lead will also meet in a game between teams with perfect win records so far.

Duncans United, winners of the Trelawny Major League last season, will hope to continue their high-scoring ways, especially playing at home, but face a Reno FC team who were semi-finalists last season and will be aiming to make a return to the Premier League.

Oshane Plummer scored two goals for Duncans United last weekend and is expected to lead the team again this weekend.

Baptist Alliance SC were unbeaten in two games against Meadforest FC last season, winning the first game 2-0 and then drawing the other 0-0 and will hope to continue their positive results against the Kingston and St Andrew club. Meadforest FC started with a 2-1 win away to Portlanders FC last week and will have home advantage today.

Zone A leaders Lime Hall Academy who were in the Premier League last season, will be at home to Progressive FC in the first game of a double header at Drax Hall, set to start at 1:00pm and will start favourites to get another three points.

Grays Inn also won their opening game and will host last season’s semi-finalists Tru-Juice FC who missed their opening game at home and were fined by the JFF. Tru- Juice won both games against Grays Inn last season 2-1 and 3-0.

In Zone B, Mt Pleasant Juniors will face St Bess United, a team they beat twice last season when they played at Brown’s Town FC and will hope that a name change will also result in a change of luck against the St Elizabeth team.

St Bess United will hope to continue their winning ways against Mt Pleasant Juniors especially after being roughed up by Duncans United last weekend.

Today’s games:

Lime Hall Academy vs Progressive FC -Drax Hall 1:00pm
Spanish Town Police vs Portlanders FC – Royal Lakes 3:00pm
