Vision board joy
Sandals helps Steer Town Primary students set big goals
Students at Steer Town Primary School in St Ann were inspired to dream big as team members from Sandals Dunn’s River and Sandals Royal Plantation led an engaging vision board activity.
According to Keish Beckford, Sandals’ regional public relations coordinator, the vision board exercise was designed to help students visualise their goals, whether academic or personal.
“By creating visual representations of their aspirations through a collage of pictures and words, students were encouraged to think about their future in a fun and engaging way. We are delighted with how enthusiastically they embraced the project,” a Sandals release quotes Beckford.
Held under the theme ‘I Can’, the activity kicked off with Christian songwriter Gloria Gaither’s inspirational chorus I Am A Promise filling the auditorium, setting the tone for the day.
Students eagerly participated in the creative process of making their vision boards, each one reflecting their unique dreams.
“The vision board exercise really inspired me. It gave me a chance to manifest my goals and dreams, and it showed me that no matter the size of a goal, it is achievable. It made me dream big and believe in myself,” one student said.
Principal Mitchell White-Guy expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting its importance in motivating the students.
“We are thrilled to have the support of Sandals Dunn’s River and Sandals Royal Plantation. Their involvement in guiding our students to envision their futures has been invaluable,” White-Guy said.
The Sandals team drew inspiration from Grace Byers’ book, I Believe I Can, noting that it served as a motivational guide for the young participants.
“Today was about planting seeds of ambition in each child, reminding them that their dreams are within reach if they believe in themselves,” Sandals team member Katrice Simpson shared.
As the day concluded, the students’ vision boards were transformed from blank canvases into vibrant depictions of their dreams and goals. With new-found determination they proudly displayed their creations, each one symbolising a belief in the limitless possibilities that lie ahead.
