Wall Street Trader the right choice in Division of Allan E ‘Billy’ Williams Trophy
The $1.25-million Allan E ‘’Billy’’ Williams Trophy, a Non-Restricted Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward, takes centre stage on tomorrow’s nine-race card at Caymanas Park. The event, which is split into two sections, will be run over 7 furlongs (1,400m).
The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide analyses the 10 runners entered in Division One.
1. WALL STREET TRADER (USA): (6 dk b/br g by Vancouver – Selva) – The clear favourite on paper, Wall Street Trader was impressive in his last outing, finishing second to Pack Plays in the Eileen Cliggott Memorial Trophy on January 25. Despite being beaten by 3 ½ lengths over 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m), Wall Street Trader’s strong closing effort suggests he’s poised to lead home his rivals over the slightly longer distance of 7 furlongs (1,400m). Note: Blinkers on.
2. MR SENATOR: (5 rn h by Natural Selection – Khadiliah) – Faces a daunting task and appears to have little chance of winning.
3. GET A PEPSI: (6 ch h by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Getupstandup) – Lacks the class to compete at this level and is likely to be left behind.
4. THALITA: (5 ch m by Soul Warrior – Luminous Trieste) – Showed promise with a third-place finish behind Benson and Mudshaft over 6 furlongs (1,200m) on January 18. Thalita should carry her form well here and run a good race.
5. MADELYN’S SUNSHINE (USA): (6 dk b/br m by Jose’s Son Joey – Madelyn’s Finest) – Has been struggling to find form in recent times, and it’s unlikely that will change here.
6. BANADURA: (4 b f by Casual Trick – Esperanza) – Showed signs of returning to form with a third-place finish behind Commandant and Neo Star at nine furlongs and 25 yards (1,820m) on January 1. Banadura is expected to make a bold bid here.
7. FURTHER AND BEYOND: (7 ch h by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Rumble) – Although past his prime,
Further and Beyond continues to show he can still compete. He’s likely to impact the outcome of this race.
8. SUPREMASI: (4 b c by Savoy Stomp – Beware Baby) – Has done remarkably well to reach this level. While not expected to win, Supremasi should not be disgraced.
9. CALIFORNIA GOLD: (5 b h by Lion Tamer – Blue Saphira) – Lacks the ability to win at this level.
10. STOMP THE RHYTHM: (6 b g by Savoy Stomp – River Rhythm) – His best hope is to secure a minor placing.
