Bootylicious again steals show at Caymanas Park
BOOTYLICIOUS, in another dazzling display of speed and agility, left her competitors in the dust, cruising to a convincing victory in the $1.4-million Reggae Month Trophy, the main attraction on Sunday’s 10-race card at Caymanas Park.
This thrilling win marked her third-consecutive triumph, solidifying her position as a force to be reckoned with on the track, especially at sprinting distances.
Trained by the astute Peter-John Parsard and skillfully ridden by Panamanian jockey Ismael Velasquez,
Bootylicious dominated the Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward, winning easily by 2½ lengths. She covered the five-furlong (1,000m) straight course in a respectable 58.2 seconds (23.1 x 45.3).
Breaking from the number one post position, Bootylicious exploded out of the gates, seizing the lead and never relinquishing it. She led Benson (Richie Shakes), Blue Vinyl (Dane Dawkins), and Atlantic Convoy (Dick Cardenas) with ease, showcasing her impressive acceleration and endurance.
As she approached the dummy rails Bootylicious poured on the speed, crossing the finishing line easily ahead of Atlantic Convoy who rallied to take second place. Blue Vinyl finished third, a length behind the runner-up.
Former champion jockey Shane Ellis booted home two winners to take the riding honours. Ellis won aboard Taurus Boy for trainer Adrian Prince, and Another One for trainer Anthony Nunes in the first and second races, respectively.
Racing continues on Saturday.
