Elderly man drowns in gully
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – An elderly St Catherine man is suspected to have drowned on Sunday after his SUV overturned in a gully in Brown’s Hall in the parish.
The deceased has been identified as 78-year-old Donald Shaw of Blue Hole, Bellas Gate, St Catherine.
The police say about 11:30 pm Shaw went into his parked Toyota Rav4 and started the vehicle, which sped off suddenly. The vehicle then overturned in a gully on the left side of the road. He was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
Residents rushed to his assistance and he was transported to the Spanish Town Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
