Revenge on the menu: Chelsea seek redemption against Brighton

Chelsea travel to Brighton with revenge on their minds today, while Bayer Leverkusen has the chance to get back in the Bundesliga title race with a win at home against leaders Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Event # 1 – EPL– Brighton vs Chelsea– 3:00PM

Brighton and Chelsea will go head-to-head for the second times in six days after the Seagulls picked them off in the FA Cup with a 2-1 win at the Amex Stadium last weekend. Having hammered Brighton 4-2 last September, Brighton gained sweet revenge this time around with a win over the Blues to return to winnings ways, having been recently hammered 7-1 by Nottingham Forest prior to losing 1-0 to Everton. With that said, Brighton have had an inconsistent last few months, having won just four of their last 14 matches in all competitions. Prior to this dismal run, Brighton had gone on a seven-match unbeaten run between December and January, but that heavy 7-0 hammering dished out on them by Nottingham Forest seems to have dented their confidence. Hopefully, their 2-1 win over their upcoming opponents, Chelsea, in the FA Cup last weekend will see them continue their winning run.

Chelsea will be aiming to return to winning ways against a Brighton side that defeated them last weekend. However, beating a fired-up Brighton at home is easier said than done as the Blues, Chelsea, have had a torrid time away from home in recent times, as they have failed to win an away match in any competition since mid-December. However, they remain in the top four despite their poor form, but the likes of Manchester City, Newcastle, and Bournemouth are breathing down their necks. A defeat to Brighton could see them drop down the table after this weekend’s sets of matches as they are only three points ahead of seventh-placed Bournemouth. Indeed, they find themselves in this precarious position having had just two wins in their last eight league matches.

Key Stats

• Brighton – Brighton won their last home match, beating Chelsea 2-1 last weekend. Amazingly, Brighton have kept just 2 clean sheets in their last 18 home matches.

• Chelsea – Chelsea are winless in their last five competitive away matches in all competitions.

• Both sides – Brighton have lost just one of their last four matches against Chelsea, winning twice and drawing one.

The betting Tip.Brighton win.

Event # German Bundesliga – Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich– 12:30PM

The German Bundesliga will be buzzing this weekend with the reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen hosting the current league leaders Bayern Munich, aiming to get back in the title race with a win on home soil. Leverkusen are second in the table, eight points behind Bayern Munich, and will be hoping to continue their recent dominant form against the record champions, having won three and drawn two of their last five head-to-head encounters. The defending champions have been excellent at the Bay Arena, winning eight, drawing twice, and losing just once, which makes them the second-best home side in the league so far, just behind their upcoming opponents, Bayern Munich. Bayer Leverkusen will feel confident of securing another win at home as it’s been more than two years since they lost a match to Bayern Munich, and more than three years since they tasted defeat at the Bay Arena against Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, are fully aware that beating Leverkusen at the Bay Arena would send them 11 points clear of their opponents and put them very close to winning the 2025 Bundesliga title. With that said, Bayern Munich has been brushing teams aside without much fuss in the league so far, having won 17 times, drawn three times, and lost just 1 match. Indeed, they enter this encounter off the back of an easy 3-0 win against Werder Bremen last weekend to record their fourth win from their last five overall matches, with the only blip being a 3-0 surprise loss away to Feyenoord in Champions League action on January 22.

Key Stats

• Bayer Leverkusen – Leverkusen defeated Bayern Munich 3-0 at home last season and drew 2-2 at Bayern in the return fixture. Indeed, Leverkusen have won their last 11 home matches in a row.

• Bayern Munich – Bayern Munich have won their last seven Bundesliga matches in a row but have won just one of their last five games against Bayer Leverkusen in the league.

• Both sides – Leverkusen have the upper hand in their recent meetings against Bayern Munich, winning three and drawing two of their last five encounters.

The betting Tip.Leverkusen win.
