MONTEGO BAY, St James — Herbert Morrison Technical and Cornwall College are to meet this afternoon in the final game of their best-of-three Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association Rural Area Under-16 basketball semi-finals at Herbert Morrison.

The winning team will clash with Manchester High in the final.

The series is tied at 1-1 after Cornwall College won game two 52-50 on Thursday at Cornwall College. Herbert Morrison had won 60-32 in last Monday’s first game at Herbert Morrison.

Manchester High had swept by Belair High 2-0 in their best-of-three Under-16 series.

Cornwall College will hope to have momentum on their side and will try to avoid back-to-back lopsided losses at Herbert Morrison, after they had been defeated by more than 20 points in a first-round game in December.

On Thursday Cornwall College got off to a good start and led 20-11 before Herbert Morrison took over the game in the second quarter and led 32-28 at half-time. Herbert Morrison also led 41-37 at the end of the third quarter but Cornwall rebounded in the final quarter to snatch the win.

Nathan Hinds of Cornwall College scored a game-high 17 points and had seven steals, six rebounds and four assists. Noah Gordon scored 12 points and had five steals, and Johnathon Smart scored nine points and had five rebounds.

Herbert Morrison’s Shamar Russell had a double-double (12 points and 11 rebounds) while Raheem Lynch added 12 points and Antonio Kerr scored eight points and had four rebounds.

Manchester High, who beat Belair High 2-0 in the Under-19 semis, are scheduled to meet Herbert Morrison in that final. Herbert Morrison defeated Holland High 2-0 in their Under-19 semis.
