Rising reggae artiste Aza Lineage is set to share one from the heart with Chikiwawawoi, the third single from her upcoming debut album.

The song and video will be out everywhere on February 28 via VP Records.

Produced by reggae trailblazer King Jammy, the track finds Aza Lineage exploring the emotions sparked by deep love. Over a smooth one-drop rhythm, she admits: “I try to stop loving you, but my heart won’t let me.”

Asked about the track’s name she shared: “Going into this particular writing session, I wanted a one-word chorus — something original — so I created Chikiwawawoi… It was an epiphany. All my love songs come from personal experiences, whether good, bad, ugly, or indifferent, and this one reflects the brighter side. To me, the word means unconditional love between a man and a woman.”

Chikiwawawoi follows last month’s Rule the Sound and 2023’s Don’t Say You Love Me, both produced by King Jammy.

Since her breakout single Sound System debuted in 2019, Aza Lineage — an August Town native — has earned widespread recognition. She has become a sought-after collaborator for producers such as the French collective O.B.F. (Rebel Dawtaz) and the Swiss-based Little Lion Sound (Mr Lover).

She has also brought her signature style — rooted in the foundational sounds of reggae — to some of the genre’s most prominent stages, including Rototom Sunsplash Festival in Spain. In 2019 she was featured in Riddim Magazine’s cover story, The Future is Female, alongside Sevana and Jaz Elise, cementing her place among reggae’s rising stars.

Recently, Aza Lineage took the stage at Emancipation Park as part of a tribute concert honouring Bob Marley’s 80th birthday celebration.
