Everton aims to pile misery on inconsistent Manchester United in EPL action

Everton aims to pile misery on inconsistent Manchester United in EPL action

... while Arsenal looks to extend its unbeaten home streak against West Ham

Title-chasing Arsenal will host struggling West Ham tomorrow, February 22, 2025, as they aim to topple Liverpool at the top of the league. However, before that, the league’s most in form side, Everton, will look to pile more misery on the inconsistent Man United in an eagerly anticipated showdown at Goodison Park.

Event # 1 – EPL – Everton vs Man United – 7:30AM

David Moyes will be aiming to inflict more misery on his former club when Everton host Manchester United in the Premier League’s early game on Saturday. Sitting in the relegation zone prior to Moyes’ appointment, Everton were seen as relegation candidates, but Everton have enjoyed a marvellous turnaround since Moyes retuned to the helm for his second stint as manager. The Toffees, Everton, have been the league’s most inform team in recent times picking up 13 points from a possible 15 during this impressive run. They will enter this match high on confidence having defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 away in their last league game, a result that have seen them moving one place and one point above their upcoming opponents, Man. United. At home, Everton have been in excellent form, recently going unbeaten in their last three matches,as they secured a last-gasp 2-2 equaliser against Liverpool in the last Merseyside derby to be played at Goodison Park.

No one could have predicted the difficulties that Manchester United have had this season and it’s quite embarrassing to see the English giants sitting 15th in the league and will be aiming to secure a win against Everton to get back on track. Overall, Manchester United have won six of their last nine games in all competitions, despite their lacklustre performances, but it’s in the Premier League that they have really struggled, losing six of their last nine league matches including a 1 nil defeat against Tottenham last weekend. Worrying, for the 20-times English champions, is their away record, where they have won just one of their last four away games in the league.

Key Stats

• Everton – Everton have won four of their last five Premier league games.

• Man United – Man United have lost their last two Premier League away matches.

• Both sides – Manchester United have been the dominant side in the recent matches between both teams winning four of their last five away trips at Goodison Park, with the lone defeat coming in April 2022.

The betting tip: Draw.

Event # EPL – Arsenal vs West Ham – 10:00AM

Second-place Arsenal will be aiming to continue their relentless pursuit of Liverpool at the top of the table, as they welcome struggling West Ham to the Emirates on Saturday. The Gunners, Arsenal, have been in scintillating form this season firmly establishing themselves as title candidates, along with Liverpool who leads the table seven points ahead of them. Amazingly, Arsenal remains the only side yet to lose a league game at home this season with eight wins and four draws so far. Indeed, this fortress-like performance at home has been the cornerstone of their success this season, making them overwhelming favourites to brush aside West Ham in their clash. They enter this encounter off the back of an efficient 2-0 away win over Leicester last weekend, a result that has seen them winning four of their last five matches in all competitions.

In stark contrast to their opponents, West Ham find themselves embroiled in a relegation battle, accumulating just 27 points from their 24 matches played so far. The Hammers, West Ham, have just seven wins, six draws, and eleven losses, which paints a picture of a team struggling for consistent form. With that said, West Ham’s away record is particularly worrisome, with just three wins from 12 matches played. This poor away form does not bode well for their trip to the Emirates, where they will face the league’s best home side. On top of that, West Ham’s recent form has been equalling disappointing, with just one win from their last five matches in all competitions — their most recent result a 1-0 home defeat to Brentford.

Key Stats

• Arsenal – Arsenal have won four of their last six home matches, including a 5-1 thrashing dished out to Manchester City during this run.

• West Ham – West Ham lost their last match against Arsenal when both teams met earlier this season — a huge 5-2 thrashing at their London Stadium.

• Both sides – Arsenal had won eight-straight matches in a row at home against West Ham, but that run was broken in a 0-2 defeat in December 2023.

The betting tip: Arsenal win.
