Some of the artistes who helped put reggae on the map during the 1970s will perform at Rastafari At Woodstock Negril, scheduled for that venue in Westmoreland on Sunday.

Guitarist Earl “Chinna” Smith, one of the most recorded musicians in Jamaican music, leads the Binghistra Movement acoustic group, who are the event’s headliners. Comprising mainly Nyahbinghi drummers, the multi-member aggregation has performed on major shows, among them A St Mary Mi Come From and Tribute To Dennis Brown.

Two stars of Rockers, the 1978 hit movie, are also on Rastafari At Woodstock Negril. They are singer-songwriter Kiddus I and drummer Leroy “Horsemouth” Wallace.

Both artistes played themselves in the movie, which was filmed in Kingston.

Kiddus I, who was a member of Ras Michael And The Sons of Negus, is best known for the song Graduation In Zion, which is on the Rockers soundtrack.

Wallace was a key member of Burning Spear’s Black Disciples Band which played on the singer’s groundbreaking Marcus Garvey album, released in 1976.

The Gladiators, Della Manley, Donovan Joseph, Natty Pablo, and Quan-Dajai, who played a teenaged Bob Marley in the 2024 movie Bob Marley: One Love, will also perform on Rastafari At Woodstock Negril.

The show is part of Reggae Month activities in western Jamaica.
