KINGSTON, Jamaica- The Denham Town Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) has asked a man known as Denver Rowe of a Duhaney Park address to turn himself in to the station by 6:00 pm on Thursday, in connection with a matter involving the theft of copper wires valued about $3 million.

Rowe allegedly eluded cops who intercepted a vehicle where the copper wire was found.

Reports are that about 4:30 am on February 24, cops intercepted a white Honda Stream motor car which was stopped and checked and copper cables belonging to the Flow Jamaica network was found inside the vehicle. One male ran from the vehicle and the driver was detained.

The police are now seeking the male accomplice who eluded them at the time of the driver’s arrest.

Further investigation revealed that the cables were stolen from Rousseau Road in Kingston. The driver, Romario Brown, alias ‘Scarface’, a warehouse attendant of a Spanish Town, St Catherine address, was subsequently charged.

Telecommunications provider Flow Jamaica said that copper theft and vandalism cost it at least US$10 million, or $1.5 billion, in 2022 following hundreds of incidents of vandalism.

Thieves reportedly fence the copper and its associated infrastructure to the scrap metal trade at lucrative prices.
