FLORENCE HALL, Trelawny — Falmouth United extended their winning run in the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Championship when they beat Duncans United 3-0 in the parish derby at Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium in Florence Hall.

Falmouth United, semi-finalists in the first season of the competition (then known as Tier 2), were winning their fifth-straight game after drawing on the opening weekend. Their 16-point tally places them atop Zone B, ahead of Treasure Beach FC and Reno FC who are tied on 10 points each.

Zone A frontrunners Lime Hall FC, who were beaten 0-1 by second-placed Meadforest FC, saw their lead reduced to a single point.

At the Trelawny stadium, Tajay Cooper gave Falmouth United the lead in the 27th minute before second-half substitutes Tavane Kerr (73rd minute) and Nicholas Samuels, who scored in second-half stoppage time, made it a comfortable win.

Treasure Beach edged ahead of Reno FC into second place on goal-difference after drawing 1-1 with Mount Pleasant FA juniors.

Treasure Beach led from the 14th minute when Courton Wright scored his first goal of the season, but Rohan Brown earned a point for Mount Pleasant FA juniors when he scored in the 77th minute.

Westmoreland-based Reno lost back-to-back games when they were outscored 2-4 by Holland PYC at home.

Reno FC played with 10 men from the 11th minute when Gavin Henry was sent off. Reno have failed to win in their last three games after starting the season with three-straight victories.

Dashanel White put Holland PYC into the lead in the fourth minute, but even though playing a man short, Reno FC equalised in the 27th minute through Rayon Smith as the teams went into the half-time at 1-1.

Holland PYC restored their lead in the 47th minute when Ashwani Dkaye scored his second goal of the season. Andre Ennevor added a third for the St Elizabeth-based team in the 65th minute.

Javin Williams pulled a goal back for Reno FC in the 81st minute, but Javon Ambersley scored for Holland PYC three minutes into time added.

In Zone A, Junior McGregor’s 36th-minute goal gave Meadforest FC a crucial win over Lime Hall as they improved to 12 points, one behind Lime Hall who lead on goal-difference ahead of Baptiste Alliance.

Baptiste Alliance scored their first win over Tru-Juice in the championship, edging them 1-0 thanks to a ninth-minute goal from Ackeem Reid.

Spanish Town Police moved three spots up the tables to fifth, after a 3-0 win over Progressive FC, while Portlanders FC and Grays Inn SC were goalless.

St Bess United earned their first point of the campaign after playing out a 1-1 result against Petersfield FC.
