Everything You Need for a Picture-Perfect Celebration

It’s no secret that your wedding reception décor plays a huge role in the look and feel of your event. Centrepieces, dinner plates, table linens are some of the obvious things you’ll need to consider — but the details don’t end there. There’s a lot to keep track of, especially if you don’t have a wedding designer. Consider this wedding décor checklist as your handy guide to all of the items you will need for your special day. From optional add-ons to décor must-haves you might have forgotten.

The Ultimate Wedding Décor Checklist [PART 2]

• Overhead lighting (chandeliers, string lights, lanterns)

• Draping or ceiling installations

• Floral arrangements or greenery

• Photo booth area with a backdrop

• The dance floor is where the party happens, so make it pop! Custom dance floor wrap or monogram

• Overhead lighting (disco ball, fairy lights, chandeliers)

Sweetheart or Head Table Décor — Your head table should be a focal point of the reception.

• Elegant table linens and runners

• Statement floral arrangements

• Candles or lanterns

• Personalised signage Mr & Mrs, Last Name, etc.

• Special seating — a loveseat or unique chairs

Reception Table Décor — Each guest table should reflect the overall aesthetic and complement the venue.

• Table linens and runners

• Centerpieces usually include some or all of the following: florals, candles, greenery, lanterns)

• Charger plates

• Dinnerware, flatware, and glassware

• Napkins

• Place cards or escort cards

• Table numbers

• Menu cards

• or fairy lights

Food Station Décor, Cake Table and Dessert Display Décor

If you’re having a buffet or food stations, styling them properly will elevate the experience.

• Decorative food signage

• Stylish serving platters and display stands

• Table linens and runners

• Florals or greenery

• Cake stand or pedestal

• Lighting (small candles)

Chairs & Seating Décor

• Don’t forget about seating — this small detail makes a big difference.

• Chair types — Chiavari, ghost chairs, rustic wooden, non-traditional

• Chair sashes, ribbons, or florals

• Bride & groom chair signage, for example: “Bride” & “Groom” or “Better Together”)

Final Tips

When selecting décor elements, consider your wedding theme and colour palette. Coordinate with your venue to confirm what’s included and what you need to bring. Work with your florist and rental company to bring your vision to life. Have a designated décor design team or planner to set up and break down the décor. Think of the elements individually and collectively.

With this wedding décor checklist in hand, you can ensure that every detail of your big day is covered, creating a stunning and memorable atmosphere for you and your guests to enjoy!
