A dominant display by Wall Street Trader in the $1.25-million Ash Wednesday Trophy feature race at Caymanas Park on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 left trainer Rowan Mathie ecstatic.

The six-year-old American-bred dark brown/bay gelding Wall Street Trader effortlessly won the Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over six and a half furlongs (1,300m), crossing the wire 5 ½ lengths clear of his rivals in a time of 1:18.4 (23.3 x 46.2 x 1:11.4).

Mathie, visibly thrilled with the outcome, praised Wall Street Trader’s performance, highlighting his ease in dispatching his rivals.

“I am feeling great about this win; it was very easy, as this was an Overnight Allowance race and he had been campaigning in the classes above,” Mathie told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.

With this victory, Wall Street Trader continued to build his reputation as a noteworthy contender in the local racing scene. Mathie acknowledged that the gelding’s class drop had contributed to his effortless win but emphasised that he would be returning to his usual class for his next outing.

“He goes up back in class now, and so we will take it one day at a time. He will be out again at month’s end,” Mathie revealed, already looking forward to Wall Street Trader’s next challenge.

Ridden by Shane Richardson, Wall Street Trader broke smartly from the gate, assuming second position behind Banadura (Robert Halledeen) early on. However, approaching the five-furlong (1,000m) marker,
Wall Street Trader seized command, surging to the front and rapidly expanding his lead.

He cruised to an effortless victory, with Sheer Delight (Omar Walker) and Unspun (Chris Mamdeen) finishing second and third, respectively.
