Girl from MoBay
Rt Reverend Rose Hudson-Wilkin, the first black woman to be ordained bishop in the Church of England, shows off a copy of her new autobiography, The Girl from Montego Bay, during a conversation with women in leadership at the JN Group and guests on International Women’s Day, March 8.
The event was organised by The Jamaica National Group and held at the group’s corporate suites on Oxford Road in New Kingston. In the book, Rev Hudson-Wilkin, who is bishop of Dover and the bishop in Canterbury, tells the story of her journey from Montego Bay, St James, overcoming physical and sexual abuse as well as racism “by God’s grace” along the way, to rise to leadership within the Church of England.
