KINGSTON, Jamaica — Having had a troubled past, reggae artiste Visionn decided to pour his emotions into the song Save Me, as a means of inspiration to others.

“Music is what saved me from my troubled past. I grew up in the streets and eventually moved abroad. I went to prison in Florida twice and after that I decided to focus on my music career and stay out of trouble. Music has given me an opportunity to have better a life. A life free from trouble,” Visionn told Observer Online last week.

He opened up about some of the problems that he faced.

“I’ve been in a lot of different situations, including accidents and running in trouble with the law. Some of these things are things I don’t wish to share with the public,” said Visionn, who hails from Nompriel Road in Negril.

“Nompriel Road is a very rough part of Negril. When you grow up in a place like that you have to be tough to survive,” he disclosed.

Visionn has been singing since he was a youth. He launched his career in 2010 but put the brakes on a career in music. He, however, decided to throw his hat into the ring with the release of Save Me in February. The song is released via Visionn Entertainment.

“I’m very happy with the response the song has been receiving but I am not surprised because it’s an authentic reggae song. From the moment I recorded it I knew it was going to resonate with listeners. It is a song of hope for all the people who have overcome trying circumstances,” he said.
