Since he gave his life to the Lord in November last year, singer D Major says his moves have been more of ministry and less of entertainment.

“Making the move to Christianity, it was actually a gradual transition and transformation. God just started transforming my heart and my mind,” D Major told the Jamaica Observer on Thursday. “My relationship with the Lord has been the greatest thing to ever happen to me. It’s tough, but the reward is more than worth it; that’s eternal life in paradise.”

Like It’s Your Birthday, was baptised on November 10 at the First Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in St Catherine.

The lanky singer made his gospel music debut on Friday March 14, with the release of two gospel songs All My Needs and Great Mercies.

Asked the reason he released two songs on the same day: D Major said, “I think it’s special, been a while in the making, and it marks the new first in the new direction.”

Pressed on whether the move into Christianity made him lose fans from his days in secular music, D Major was quick to point out, “I’m not sure about losing fans; however, I know this road is unpopular, and it is met with resistance, but it’s not about my will, but the Lord’s, and the results are certain once I’m obedient for his use. He will do the rest for his people.”

The instrumentation for All My Needs, he said, was created by Jethro Reid and Micah Treleven.

“I had the initial idea, which hit me one day while I was driving. I recorded it on my phone, and I had to see it manifest. On Great Mercies, Redemption Studios out of Trinidad and myself, we worked on this track. This is also one of my favourite worship songs by Donnie McClurkin, so we used the chorus, and I wrote the original verses,” said D Major.
