#Champs2025: Lacovia High’s Dockery continues to impress

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Sabrina Dockery of Lacovia High continues to impress as she cruised into the final of the girls’ Class One 100m, winning her semi-final race in 11.20 seconds (0.7m/s) on Wednesday’s second day of the 115th ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

Dockery, who had run a personal best 11.12 seconds in the first round on Tuesday, noticeably eased off the gas after 70 metres possibly saving some energy for the final set to be run later.

Holmwood Technical’s Doniellia Lewis was the next best with 11.46 seconds (1.1m/s) with two Edwin Allen runners Jounee Armstrong — 11.49 seconds and Renecia Edwards — 11.52 seconds also through.

Muschett High’s Shanoya Douglas easily won her heat in the Class Two event, running 11.53 seconds (-0.2m/s), the fastest time in the semis as she seemed set to add the gold medal later on Wednesday.

Shannia Campbell of St Jago High ran 11.66 seconds (-02m/s), the fastest in Class Three with Ferncourt High’s Rihanna Scott running 11.67 seconds (0.4m/s) to book her spot with St Mary High’s Shayon Smith also in with 11.68 seconds (0.4m/s).

Trecia-Ann Grant, also of St Jago advanced with 11.83 seconds (1.1m/s) as well as Daniela Clarke of Edwin Allen with 11.96 seconds (1.1m/s).

An injury to favourite Andrianna Pine of Edwin Allen, who pulled up in the first semi-final heat of the Class Four race was thrown wide open with Holmwood Technical’s Adalia Simpson being the fastest qualifier, running 12.81 seconds (0.7m/s) with St Andrew High’s Alzeliha Allen next with 12.26 seconds (0.6m/s) and Vere Technical’s Danae Bartley who ran 12.31 seconds (-0.7m/s).

The second Holmwood athlete who advanced to the final is Aliona Crawford who clocked 12.30 seconds (0.6m/s) while St Mary Technical’s Dehjanae Stephens also booked a place with 12.32 seconds (0.7m/s).
