There is a prophetic group of young people named Love March Movement (LMM) who are for the gospel of life and against the gospel of death. This young group of Christians was founded by a young man, Dr Daniel Thomas, when he was just 22 years old. This small but dynamic Christian group preach the word of God and live by the principles of sexual purity, virginity for those not yet married, family life and faithfulness for wedded partners. Faithfulness and love are to be practised according to the traditional values, according to biblical standards.

At this time, the Love March Movement is in the midst of the “40 days for life campaign”, in sync with the 40 days of prayer Christ’s spent in the dessert. It is meant to sharpen and strengthen the understanding of the kingdom of Satan and his worldly values of the 40 days retreat of Christ, when Jesus clarifies the fact that there is a standard of Christ and a standard of Satan.

This small but intense group of young Christians are particularly concerned with the question of abortion and the prevalence of the falsehood that abortion is for the good of women and even for the child in the womb.

Doctors practise abortion and encourage women to practise abortion though it is illegal in Jamaica. Yesterday, I had a conversation with members of the Jamaican Coalition for a Healthy Society, the Association of Christian Communicators and Media, Christians for Truth and Justice, and Chosen to GLOW Ministries on matters relating to the incidents being experienced by the LMM.

With them there were Friends for Life, Joytown, and Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship. All of these members are concerned with the spread of abortion and reports of intimidation and an acts of violence against those who are participating in the LMM.

On March 10, 2025, members participating in the prayers and the march and the rights of babies in the womb pushed and shouted at the pro-life Christian individuals. One man pointed his fingers at Daniel Thomas’ chest and pushed him. Daniel replied, “Don’t touch me, an angel of the Lord protects me.”

Four men surrounded Daniel. “If you come back tomorrow, I am going to shoot you in your head. I know a gunman who is the worst gunman in Jamaica,” one of them said, then pointed his fingers again at Daniel’s face.

Other volunteers participating in the LMM vigil had glass bottles thrown at them and were threatened with death. Other members had water and stones thrown at them. For three days, masked men from upstairs with golf clubs threatened members of Love March Movement. Daniel reported this to the police Station at Cross Roads but there was no response to protect those who were in the prayer march.

I want to remind all of us that the book of Deuteronomy 30:19 says: “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”

Our God is the God of life. He wants life including the baby in the womb. Everyone must be given the chance to live. It is not our choice to say that any child be aborted and that any mother can decide to kill the child of her womb.
