A singer/musician for over 30 years, D’Mack has long been fascinated by the business side of the music industry. Recently, he launched Worldwide Entertainment Inc (WEINC), a multi-faceted app that provides artistes with an opportunity to expose their work.

While WEINC has popular platforms including Roku, fireTV and androidTV, he said one of his primary objectives is to help the independent artiste get their message across.

“The inspiration behind WEINC came from a passion for music, media, and giving artistes a platform to showcase their talent on a global scale. I wanted to create a space where independent and mainstream artistes, as well as content creators, could connect with audiences worldwide,” D’Mack told Observer Online.

For a fee, he said artistes and producers can post music videos or their latest songs on WEINC, which will also conduct interviews on these projects. He did not disclose that fee, but said as a newcomer in a competitive market, it is natural to offer suitable rates.

The Portland-born vocalist’s career — from his time as a keyboardist/session musician in Toronto, to a recording artiste in South Florida — is covered on WEINC. Being the proprietor of such a platform is a welcome break from the costly process of sharing his work on major mediums.

“While WEINC provides a great platform for promotion, the focus is on supporting a wide range of artistes, not just my own music. Of course, having access to an established media platform makes it easier to share my projects, but the bigger vision is about building a space where multiple artistes can shine and gain exposure on an international level,” he explained.

That “wide range” includes access to diverse music genres and movies from Africa. In time, D’Mack hopes to add Jamaican movies including obscure films from the 1970s such as The Marijuana Affair and Every Nigger Is A Star.

D’Mack has recorded and released several songs in Canada and South Florida. Odyssey, his only album, was produced by Karl Pitterson, engineer for Bob Marley’s Kaya album and producer of Steel Pulse’s classic True Democracy album.
