Der Klassiker, London Showdown: Bayern Munich, Arsenal favoured to win

Following their historic first-leg Champions League win over Real Madrid, Arsenal will be aiming to continue building momentum when they host Brentford at the Emirates tomorrow, Saturday, April 12, while over in Germany, fans will witness the 137th Der Klassiker, as Bayern Munich and Dortmund clash in the biggest derby in German football.

Event # 1 – GER – Bayern Munich vs Dortmund – 11:30 AM

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will go head-to-head in the biggest game in German football, and one of the biggest rivalries in world football, when both teams meet in a highly anticipated clash. With just six matches left to play in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich will be favoured to continue their dominance at home over their great rivals Borussia Dortmund, when they collide at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, in this high-stakes derby. After an underwhelming 2024 campaign, Bayern Munich are on course to reclaim the Bundesliga title they lost to Bayer Leverkusen, who they currently lead by six points. However, Bayern enter this vital match off the back of a 1-2 home defeat against Inter Milan in their midweek Champions League quarter-finals clash and will be aiming to return to winning ways, ahead of the return leg against Inter Milan next week. They will be hoping to rebound, especially with the match being played on home soil as their home record has been nothing short of spectacular so far this season, with 12 wins, one draw, and just one defeat, making them overwhelming favourites in this upcoming clash against a Dortmund side that hasn’t travelled well in recent times.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund are seeking redemption, as in stark contrast to Bayern Munich, the German giants find themselves in an unfamiliar 14th position in the league standing, which is a result of their inconsistency so far this season. Indeed, Dortmund’s away form has been particularly concerning as they have won three, drawn two, and have lost eight times on their travels. This poor away record from home will be another significant hurdle to overcome as they face the daunting task of visiting the Allianz Arena and leaving with a win. However, Dortmund’s recent form has shown signs of improvement as they delivered a dominant performance in their last league game when dismantling Freiburg 4-1 away, a performance that should boost confidence as they prepare to face the league leaders.

Key Stats

• Bayern Munich – Bayern Munich are unbeaten in their last four home league matches.

• Dortmund – Dortmund have scored at least one goal in each of their last six overall matches.

• Both sides – Last season Dortmund defeated Bayern 0-2 in Munich securing their first win in 11 attempts which was their first away derby win in 10 years.

The betting Tip.Bayern Munich win.

Event # EPL – Arsenal vs Brentford – 11:30 AM

Following their historic win over Real Madrid in their midweek Champions League clash, Arsenal will be aiming to continue building momentum when they host Brentford at the Emirates tomorrow, Saturday, April 12. Indeed, the Gunners, Arsenal, will be returning to the Emirates just a few days after they produced their performance of the season, having battered Real Madrid 3-0 in their midweek Champions League quarter-final clash. The Gunners remains 11 points adrift leaders Liverpool in second place with seven matches left in the season and they missed a glorious opportunity to cut Liverpool’s advantage last weekend after playing to a 1-1 draw with Everton, while Liverpool were beaten away at Fulham. Indeed, Arsenal will be high on confidence entering this clash against Brentford as they won have each of the last three meetings with their London rivals, including a 3-1 win when both sides met in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

Brentford enter this match off the back of a goalless draw against Chelsea last weekend, extending their winless home run to eight games, meaning they have managed just one win, two draws, and two defeats in their last five matches, a run of results that highlights the inconsistency that has plagued them this season. With that said, Brentford will consider this another successful season as they sit 12th in the table and look set to secure another mid-table finish, despite losing some of their best players.

Key Stats

• Arsenal– Arsenal are unbeaten in their last seven overall matches including a massive 3-0 beating dished out on Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.

• Brentford – Brentford are winless in their last five overall matches against Arsenal, their 0-0 draw last week with Chelsea means they have won just one of their last seven London derbies.

• Both sides – Arsenal are unbeaten in their last four head-to-head meetings with Brentford, winning each of their last three, including a 3-1 victory when both teams met earlier this season.

The betting Tip.Arsenal win.
