SO2 – April 13

Vintage Hollywood was the theme of Sagicor Group Jamaica’s 2025 Corporate Awards ceremony held Wednesday, April 9, at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel. As honorees past, present and future made swoon-worthy entrances, there was no disputing that #TeamSagicor had taken inspiration from their favourite Hollywood screen legends, all whilst infusing their own solid dose of glam.

There were audible gasps from bystanders as honorees stepped into the spotlight and faced the aperture.

The red carpet moment was followed by a nostalgic walk to the ballroom with a life-size film reel depicting head shots of late founder of Life of Jamaica Limited, now Sagicor Life Jamaica, R Danny Williams, Sagicor titans: the late Albert Lyons and Walter Grant; and those to whom the baton has been passed, notably Unit Managers Loeri Robinson and Nicholene Taylor and Montego Bay Branch Manager Patrick Sinclair.

With the Reasons & Seasons-designed ballroom awash in black, green, and gold, with cinematography effects by production house Phase 3’s use of automated lighting and an 80-foot LED screen backdrop that served as the focal point, 500-plus guests — rose in reverence as a video montage of Jamaica’s Independence Flag-Raising Ceremony played in sync with the national anthem, signalling the start of the awards show.

“We hail all those who will be deserving winners tonight. May their hearts be joyful, and acknowledge that, through you, all good things flow,” was the prayer of Charmaine Rankin, general manager of EBA Ltd, as she set a tone of gratitude for the ceremony.

Singer/songwriter Nickeisha Barnes’ powerful rendition of Adele’s Skyfall and Dance Theatre Xaymaca’s
Fame-inspired routine served as opening teasers ahead of greetings from Sagicor Group Jamaica Chairman Peter Melhado, and President & CEO Christopher Zacca.

Energy and emotions were at a high as the group honoured the game-changers, go-getters, and hall-of-famers who’ve left their mark on Sagicor’s journey. From outstanding teams to top performers, the ceremony was fuelled by the #ONESagicor spirit. Every round of applause was a reminder of what is achieved when #TeamSagicor shows up, supports each other, and strives for excellence, together!

The evening’s proceedings were masterfully handled by Jennifer “Jenny Jenny” Small; whilst the hotel’s award-winning food and beverage team presented a sumptuous three-course dining experience.

Cue the glam and roll the credits as we spotlight moments from the blockbuster event!
