Elevated threat level for cops after fatal shooting of reputed gang member — JCF
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says the threat level against its members has increased following Wednesday’s fatal shooting of Shacqol Pounal, otherwise called “Track Star”, a reputed high-ranking member of the 7’s gang.
“The 7’s gang, which operates in sections of Waltham Park, St Andrew, has issued threats of reprisal in response to Pounal’s death. Therefore, all members of the JCF are urged to exercise extreme vigilance, particularly within the Corporate Area, and to act lawfully to protect themselves,” the JCF said in a statement on Wednesday.
“Criminals are also reminded to surrender peacefully when confronted by the police. The JCF remains steadfast in its dedication to maintaining law and order and will continue to pursue those involved in criminal activities,” it added.
The JCF further urged members of the public to share information on criminal activities by calling anonymously through Crime Stop at 311, the National Intelligence Bureau at 811, the 119 emergency numbers, or visiting the nearest police station.
Pounal was a resident of Content Avenue, Kingston 10. The JCF said he was a person of interest in a quadruple murder on Ayrshire Avenue, Kingston 10 on November 25, 2024, as well as other incidents currently under investigation.
