NCB, Visa show off phone payments for customers
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Described as transformative, Visa’s tap-on-phone payment option was highlighted at the recent Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association (JMEA) Expo.
Powered by Near Field Communication (NFC), the technology is part of Visa’s contactless payment technology offerings which allow businesses and customers to make payments simply by tapping their Visa debit or credit cards.
The Visa NCB booth focused on educating attendees about the efficiency, safety, and speed of contactless payments, eliminating the need for customers to hand over their cards to merchants.
“Our contactless payment method represents cutting-edge technology, providing Jamaicans with a secure and efficient way to process payments without compromising the safety of Visa debit or credit cards,” said Frank Gandarillas, Country Manager of English & Dutch Caribbean Countries at Visa.
“This technology paves the way for next-generation innovative payments by enabling seamless transactions across domestic and international markets. It offers diverse payment methods via phones, smartwatches, and other devices equipped with contactless capabilities. We strongly encourage businesses of all types to embrace this cutting-edge technology to stay ahead in the evolving payment landscape,” he said.
Gandarillas further emphasised, “We are proud to power this technology, enabling secure and efficient transactions in the country.”
