PennRelays2025: Three Jamaican teams advance to girls 4x800m final
All three Jamaican teams that took part in Friday’s preliminaries of the high school girls 4×800 relay on the second day of the 129th Penn Relays Carnival at Franklin Field in Philadelphia advanced to Saturday’s final.
Alphansus Davis High, Holmwood Technical and Edwin Allen High all made it through comfortably. However, Hydel High, who were expected to cop their first ever championship title via the event, did not face the starter.
Eleven-time champions Holmwood Technical, who last won in 2018, won their heat with the team of Terrica Clarke, Florence Nafamba, Jovi Rose and Cindy Rose, running 9:01.58 minutes.
Edwin Allen, who won their seventh title in 2022, also won their heat in 9:04.26 minutes with the team of Harvia Ware, Sushana Johnson, Monique Stewart and Kevongay Fowler.
Alphansus Davis was impressive in their second place finish, running 8:54.73 minutes, behind IMG Academy of Florida who ran 8:54.06 minutes, the fastest time of the day.
Tabbrel Williams, Ameiah Samuel, Allecia Johnson and Alikay Reynolds made up the Alphansus Davis team.
