Pension pain eased
Dear Claudienne,
Could you please look into the compensation package payments that I am due from the National Water Commission (NWC) for the past two years? I need to know when the payment will be available to me. There is also my pension lump sum that has been due for three years now and that I have not yet received.
Could you please check on these payments for me?
TM
Dear TM,
Tell Claudienne has been in communication with the Human Resources Department of the NWC and the Pensions Department of the Ministry of Finance.
On June 20, 2024, the vice-president corporate services at the NWC sent the column the following e-mail:
“Please be advised that TM was assured that we are following up with the Ministry of Finance with respect to a timeline for the finalisation of his pension benefit. The ministry’s processing of his file has to be finalised in order for the remaining 30 per cent lump sum to be paid.”
The HR Department also said that they had updated you on the issue.
Recently, Tell Claudienne asked the Pensions Unit of the Ministry of Finance if your compensation package had been finalised.
On April 9, 2025, the Pensions Unit sent the column an e-mail that stated the following:
“The pension award in respect of TM was finalised and will be dispatched to the Accountant General’s Department on April 10, 2025, for payment. A copy of the award letter will be sent to TM.”
We wish you all the best.
