Amber OnTime app promises safer ridesharing services
Amber OnTime, touted as Jamaica’s first locally developed ridesharing app, promises to transform transportation in the island with unprecedented safety for both passengers and drivers.
According to the Amber OnTime developer, Amber Group, the app pioneers the industry by offering an
exclusive safety feature — real-time armed response support provided by Hawkeye Security during life-threatening emergencies. Passengers can now experience safer, smarter, and stress-free rides, while Jamaican drivers benefit from a fairer, more profitable earning model, the company said in a press release.
By keeping ridesharing revenues local, Amber OnTime is dedicated to boosting employment opportunities and significantly contributing to Jamaica’s economic growth, the release stated, adding that to celebrate its launch, Amber OnTime is offering a J$250 discount on the first ride booked through the app during March and April.
According to the release, unlike traditional ridesharing services that take hefty commissions, Amber OnTime employs a transparent flat weekly fee structure, allowing drivers to retain a greater portion of their earnings. This approach ensures more money stays within the local community, enhancing economic benefits for Jamaican families and businesses, the release stated.
Leveraging cutting-edge technology, Amber OnTime integrates advanced GPS dispatch and AI-driven route optimisation to provide shorter wait times and more efficient journeys across the island.
With Jamaica’s ride-hailing market projected to reach approximately US$9.2 million in revenue by 2025 (statista.com ), Amber OnTime is dedicated to ensuring these revenues benefit Jamaica directly rather than overseas operators, according to Amber Group.
“Amber OnTime is more than an app—it’s a catalyst for economic empowerment,” said Dushyant Savadia, Founder and CEO of Amber Group. “By keeping ride-hailing revenues local, we ensure the growth of the sector directly strengthens Jamaica’s economy, supports local businesses, and creates sustainable opportunities for our people.”
