Antigua releases ‘Sunny Day’ promotional song by Causion
Devastated by COVID-19, Antigua’s leisure industry has rebounded significantly in the last two years, with the country posting record tourist arrivals in 2024. Helping the Antigua Tourist Board (ATB) in that remarkable recovery is singer Causion.
Caribbean Vacation, a song by the reggae artiste, was the theme for the ATB’s campaign last year. On April 25, they launched Sunny Day, which is the organisation’s official promotional song.
Sunny Day is written by Causion, who co-produced it with Maurice Gregory. He will once again work with Elite Island Resorts — the company that markets Antigua’s tourism — who were also responsible for promoting Caribbean Vacation.
“Since partnering with Elite Island Resorts, I’ve been excited to see what we can do, the reach and impact we can have. The Antigua Me Come From video reached hundreds of thousands, the Caribbean Vacation (video) reached over two million in views. In 2024, Antigua saw the highest figures in its entire history, and I’d like to think we may have contributed where that is concerned,” Causion told Observer Online. “We’re now hoping that the Sunny Day project has an even bigger impact.”
Antigua Me Come From is one of the songs from Mission In Progress, Causion’s EP. It was released in 2023 as his country launched an aggressive campaign to revive tourism, the island’s biggest earner of foreign exchange.
The ATB reports that Antigua welcomed a record 1.3 million visitors in 2024, surpassing 1.2 million the previous year. This marked a 10 percent increase over 2019, the year before COVID-19 struck.
Based in South Florida, Causion (real name Gregory Bailey) is Antgua’s official Reggae Ambassador. Last November, he was awarded the Commander of The Most Precious Order of Princely Heritage (CH), the country’s fourth-highest honour.
“I see myself as a voice of Antigua, not the voice. I’ve always tried my best to hold the Antiguan flag high. Bragging about where I’m from is the easiest job in the world,” said Causion. “I love inviting people to vacation where I live. Come meet the warm and friendly people, come try the local cuisine, come enjoy the beaches on sunny days in the gem of the Caribbean.”
