Dissecting results of races run Saturday, April 26, 2025

IN recognition of World Veterinary Day 2025, the practitioners delivering this vital service were recognised by promoting company Supreme Ventures Racing & Entertainment Ltd.

Insights into this responsibility gave an idea of the kinds of problems and challenges which are the daily experiences of these professionals.

Truth be told, the thoroughbreds, notwithstanding their size and strength, against the background of the range of possible afflictions of body and legs, can be justifiably deemed to be delicate creatures.

Featured on the programme of nine races was the eight-furlong World Vet Day Trophy, and the two market leaders,
Rhythm Buzz (3-2) and Sheer Delight (5-2), ridden by 2024 titlist Raddesh Ramon and former six-time champion Omar Walker, respectively, made it a spectacle. In the final analysis it was US import Sheer Delight, conditioned by Dalton Sirjue, who prevailed by a head in the event run as the nightcap.

Ridden by claimer Evrette Clunis in the day’s opener, The Real Identity, bet as the 1-5 favourite, conceded several lengths by failing to start with his rivals when the gates opened.

However, the Fitznahum Williams -schooled five-year-old bay horse, although only in his second career appearance, still won over the six furlongs of the race by all of 13 lengths.

Declared by Robert Pearson, Social Mischief (5-2), in scoring in race two over five furlongs round, got the benefit of the patience and experience of veteran reinsman Oniel Mullings who engineered a timely challenge inside the last hundred yards of the seven-furlong contest to secure victory by one length.

Former champion Wesley Henry picked up the first of a riding double as Blitz Strike (2-1), saddled by Phillip Lee, bested his nearest rival by five and a half lengths over the seven-furlong course.

Confirmation of Henry’s second success was actualised in race five with Bestdaughterinlaw, 4-5 favourite trained by Vincent Atkinson, just lasting home by a head.

Half an hour earlier, race four over the straight course was won by Magical Mood (3-1) ridden by 2023 champion Reyan Lewis who executed the riding skills for trainer Steadman Curtis. Former jockey Fernando Geddes saddled Rack Dem (4-1) — guided by claimer Anthony Allen — to win the competitive one-mile sixth race by nearly two lengths.

Following this, Roman made two visits to the winners’ enclosure at the end of races seven and eight over six furlongs and nine furlongs and 25 yards, respectively, with Steven Todd’s King’s Crown (2-1) and owner/trainer Oral Hayden’s
Fearless Mission (9-2). King’s Crown won by nearly eight lengths and Fearless Mission by 13 and one quarter.

The Training Feat Award is presented to Fernando Geddes for the success of Rack Dem, raced mainly over sprint distances but who stayed on gamely to win over a mile.

The five-year-old mare showed speed, stamina and courage to display the Best Winning Gallop. Anthony Allen’s judgement of pace and tactical approach, racing through on the far rails to deliver the final challenge, gave him the Jockeyship Award.
