Married couple charged with firearm and ammunition possession
ST MARY, Jamaica— A St Mary man and his wife have been charged with breaches of the Firearms Act following the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition during an operation at their house in Orange Field district, Castleton, in the parish on Tuesday.
They are 31-year-old landscaper Shamar Newby and his 30-year-old wife, Donesa Anderson-Newby.
Reports from the Port Maria police are that about 5:00 am, the team conducted a raid at a house in the community.
During a search of the premises, a Steyr 9mm pistol, along with a magazine containing twenty-three 9mm rounds, was found hanging in a child’s knapsack on a bedroom wall.
The duo was taken into custody following the discovery and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
