Fulbright scholarship applications open for 2026-2027
Kingston, Jamaica — The United States (US) Embassy in Kingston is calling on Jamaicans who want to pursue a master’s or PhD to apply for the 2026-2027 Fulbright Foreign Student Program.
The highly competitive scholarship opportunity will allow selected applicants to engage in academic studies and also develop cross-cultural competencies and leadership skills to further Jamaica’s national development goals upon their return, the embassy says.
It is seeking highly motivated individuals with an excellent academic background and a deep commitment to contributing to Jamaica’s development.
In order to qualify, candidates must be Jamaican citizens residing in Jamaica and must have obtained a first or upper second-class honours degree from a recognised local tertiary institution.
Applicants should also: demonstrate proven academic excellence, a clear vision for national development related to their field of study, leadership potential in their chosen field, and a commitment to return to Jamaica to serve in their respective field upon completing their studies.
The Fulbright programme accepts applications across a broad spectrum of disciplines, including but not limited to, Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and Agriculture. However degrees in Law, Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, and MBAs are not eligible for Fulbright programme funding.
