Jamaica’s Artistic Swimming team is to splash into action today for the 2025 Worldwide Invitational in Florida, with 27 athletes from four local clubs ready to take on top competitors from around the globe.
The competition, which runs from May 2 to 4 at the Coral Springs Aquatic Complex, promises to showcase the highest levels of skill, creativity, and athleticism. The team will compete in novice, intermediate, and youth divisions.
Carolene Brown Thomas, newly appointed vice-president for Artistic Swimming at the Aquatic Sports Association of Jamaica (ASAJ), expressed confidence in the team.
“The atmosphere in the camp is one of excitement, focus, and unity. The athletes are highly motivated and eager to showcase their routine, and there’s a strong sense of national pride and determination among them. The coaching staff has done an excellent job in building both team spirit and individual confidence. Everyone is looking forward to giving their best on the international stage,” Brown Thomas told the Jamaica Observer.
“Artistic swimming in Jamaica has been steadily growing in terms of participation and performance. The ASAJ has prioritised sports development through structured training, increased competition opportunities, and international exposure. We’ve worked closely with clubs and coaches to ensure consistent athlete development, and we’re proud of the progress made so far,” she added.
The team has undergone months of intense preparation, focusing on strength, endurance, technical skills, and routine execution. Brown highlighted the coaching staff’s excellent work in building team spirit and individual confidence.
“Everyone is looking forward to giving their best on the international stage. We expect our athletes to go out there and give it their all. They’ve trained hard and shown tremendous discipline, and I’m confident that they’ll represent Jamaica with pride and professionalism. We anticipate a strong performance, personal bests, and valuable learning experiences that will strengthen the team for future competitions,” Brown Thomas said.
